Via ferrata is Italian for “iron way” and the origins of these “iron ways” date as far back as the 19th century, they are however more strongly associated with the First World War, when they were built in the Italian dolomite to move troops and supplies through the steep mountainous terrain. Nowadays they are a fun, safe way to access unlikely steep terrain in amazing areas. Using steel staples, cable bridges and a steel safety cable that have been fixed into the rock, we will scale the steep cliffs of Scotland's third largest waterfall. The Grey Mare's Tail stands at 90m high and is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
